What is Amichien Bonding ?
Amichien Bonding is a revolutionary approach to dog training. It was developed by Jan Fennell after studying domestic dog’s ancestors, wolves, to gain an understanding of how dogs communicate and interact with each other.
Amichien Bonding is a method of communicating with your dog in a way that it instinctively understands and responds to.
The basis of the method lies in the wolf pack. Every pack has a leader - the Alpha -who dictates every aspect of pack life. Although we have domesticated and bred dogs over centuries, instinct still tells them that they live with us in a pack and problems can arise when the dog mistakenly believes it is the leader of that pack, ie the Alpha.
How can Amichien Bonding help me?
Amichien Bonding provides the owner with the skills to relieve the dog of that leadership and perform the role themselves. This enables the owner to control their dog in all situations in a calm, confident and effective way.
Amichien Bonding can help you if your dog:
- Pulls on the lead
- Jumps up
- Fears noises
- Is aggressive towards other dogs or people
- Is nervous
- Barks persistently
- Refuses to return on request
- Follows you around the house
- Destroys objects/belongings when left alone
- Misbehaves at feeding time
OR if you have tried traditional techniques with limited success.
The method can be applied to all breeds and all ages.

What About Obedience Training?
Traditional dog training or 'obedience training' can be a valuable and enjoyable experience for both dog and owner. However, in many cases, the opposite is true and owners can abandon classes, leaving with feelings of frustration and failure and a stressed out dog to boot!
In order to get the most out of your training, your dog needs to place complete trust in you. After all, it will probably in a place it's never been to before with several other dogs and people around. For some dogs, this can be quite a stressful event.
To this end, the Amichien Bonding process is an excellent precursor to any additional training work. It provides a solid foundation of trust for you to build on. It is also very easy to incorporate basic controls or commands into the method, for example sit, stay and recall.
Think of it this way: Amichien bonding is the cake and obedience training is the icing. A cake that is made solely of icing may look good but could collapse under pressure. You need something solid to begin with.
